Carry, hold, fetch – help from service dog

A service dog can provide everyday help to wheelchair users by carrying, fetching, or holding objects

Description
The service dog helps the user to carry, hold, fetch, and pick up objects.
The dog can carry objects, such as a handbag, in its mouth; the user can also pack up to 5 kg in the dog’s backpack. The dog can hold things like gloves and keys when the user withdraws money from the cash dispenser.
The user can point to objects such as the telephone or the TV remote control and the dog can fetch them. Objects may be under the table or difficult for the user to get in some other way. They can be small objects like stamps or large ones like a handbag or the wheelchair, if it should roll away when transferring into the car on a slope. The dog can place clothes into and remove clothes from the washing machine and it can fetch the mail. The dog can also learn to press buttons using a stick.
