Mobile assistive device for coughing

An assistive device that provides support for coughing even when traveling – suitable for persons who cannot cough on their own

Description
The coughing support consists of a rectangular piece of wood, about 10 x 10cm, screwed to a metal bar. The coughing support has a key ring that is used together with the user’s ‘third hand’ (see associated tip ‘stand’). Using the motors for the electric wheelchair’s leg rests, the stand with coughing support can be guided in and out. In order to cough the user drives the coughing support inward /toward the body.

Authors comments
It is crucial for the user to be able to be alone even when he has a cold. He can take the portable coughing support with him when he is out or when he travels, which means that he can cough independently wherever he may be. He can use the key ring to pick up the coughing support and place it on the stand.
