Modified remote control devices

Modifications enable a user without finger function to grasp controllers and use them

Description
1. Modifications enable the user to easily grasp the remote control: a key ring is attached to the remote control by a piece of wire (photos 1, 3, 4)

2. Modifications to hold the remote control firmly on the surface: newer remote controls are often round and won’t stay on the surface; pieces of tubing are glued along the edges on the underside of the remote control (photos 1, 3, 4). Older remote controls with flat bottoms are fitted with anti-skid material underneath.

3. Modifications to be able to handle buttons: a piece of cable tie is glued on with quick glue to enlarge the buttons (photo and video 2).

The user feels it is a challenge to modify everything he buys so that he can use things on his own. The pieces of tubing were cut from a catheter.

He modifies the remote control units for the stereo, TV, remote-controlled switches, etc., in this way.

Purchased from
Key ring: department store; anti-slip material: outlets such as www.varsam.se (last checked May 2017).
