Transfer into the car: Susanne uses a sliding board. A strap is attached to the passenger seat (upper attachment to the headrest, lower attachment to the metal bar that connects the passenger seat back to the seat). Susanne hooks onto it with her forearm in order to be able to pull herself into the car.

Transfer from the car: A broom handle is used together with a sliding board. The handle is used for back support during transfer from the car.

Users comments
The function of the back support/handle is to prevent the user’s bottom from sliding too far back during the transfer. If the sitting bones become positioned behind the sliding board, the thigh and hip will get stuck on the wheels of the wheelchair, making it impossible to slide over into the wheelchair.
