The stick is attached to the wheelchair back bow with a strap. The telescoping tube extends to the outer position so that an assistant can help to push or brake the wheelchair when the user is unable to do so. The stick can be moved along the frame and can therefore be placed offset from the middle if the user needs more help on one side.

Users comments
When the user had problems with one shoulder he came up with the idea of the push stick together with a friend, who was tired of bending over. The stick allows the assistant to walk standing straight and use relatively little strength to give an extra push to the person in the wheelchair. The stick is not intended for completely passive users, but is designed for active users so they can get by without using an electric wheelchair, such as when they are traveling.

Paid for by
The user

Whose idea
Peter Noresson, Tomas Engblom

User receives help braking

Push stick attached to the wheelchair frame

The stick is attached with a strap

A simple assistive device for people who cannot manage independently with a manual wheelchair in certain situations

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[310
469
post-2845","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-tips-about-moving-around-by-wheelchair-10","tag-authors_v4","et-has-post-format-content","et_post_format-et-post-format-standard
["GET
