Opener for urine bag drain valve

A custom-designed opener together with adapted attachment strap (see associated tip) make it possible for a user with impaired hand function to independently drain the urine bag

The user 'holds' the specially made opener of the urine bag drain valve using an orthosis ring around the thumb.

The custom-designed opener consists of a ring of orthotic material that fits around the user’s thumb. A slightly bent piece of metal in the same shape as the drain valve of the urine bag sits in the ring. The ring also has a wing made of orthotic material.
To put on the ring the user holds the ring with his teeth and inserts his thumb into the ring.
To drain the urine bag the user pulls his trouser leg up over his knee, places the bag on the edge of the toilet and opens the drain valve using the custom-designed opener.
