An outdoor jacket is modified with tab attached to a key ring on the zipper (see related tip). Another option for modification involves key rings attached with eyelets to the cuffs of sleeves.

To make it easier to take off a jacket independently, it is important that the jacket is not too tight under the arms and that it has a lining in a slippery fabric (like nylon).
